kleptoakustik

Driven by a compulsive desire to collect existing audio recordings “The department of Kleptoacoustics/ Abteilung für Kleptoakustik” works on strategies of their re-organization and re-interpretation. In order to develop new compositions the kleptoacoustic principle is rooted in abstracting and analysing the “borrowed” material more than in mere misappropriation. Analogous to the fine arts, free collage and reworking are used as artistic methods. Outdated copyright regulations which forbid the free use of foreign sounds are thereby widely ignored. The act of pilfering, the way of altering the material with unconventional tools plus the context in which the mash-up is presented, form the body of the transacoustic composition.
